I have more than 10 years of experience in social media management, digital communications, content strategy, and multimedia storytelling across municipal government, television, journalism, community theater, cultural organizations, political campaigns, and small businesses. I have worked across Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and LinkedIn, managing the full social-media process from strategy and content planning through creation, publishing, audience engagement, and performance analysis. My work combines writing and messaging with photography, video production, graphic design, and real-time communication.
For the City of Wisconsin Rapids, I manage social-media and digital communications for a municipal government, creating content that connects residents with city services, programs, events, public meetings, community initiatives, and local government. This work also includes communicating breaking news, emergency and time-sensitive public information, and other information where accuracy and speed are critical. I develop content strategies and calendars, produce original photography and video, create graphics, write copy, manage multiple platforms, monitor engagement, and use performance data to refine outreach. This work has contributed to year-over-year audience growth of more than 100% across the City's social media and YouTube presence.
Through WRCM, I have worked on social media and digital promotion for television programming and local content, using social platforms to promote programs, highlight local personalities and stories, share community news, and connect viewers with the station. My background in local journalism also informs how I approach social media, particularly when covering breaking news, local government, community events, and stories involving multiple communities across Central Wisconsin.
My community and nonprofit work has allowed me to apply those same skills in different environments. With Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater (CWACT), I have worked on social media, marketing, photography, and production, promoting theatrical productions and using digital content to build community interest and attendance. With JASWI, I work as a Digital Media Specialist and contribute website content, while my work with WICEC and the Portage County Cultural Festival has included digital media, social media, and event planning. I have also provided marketing and photography services for local businesses, both professionally and on a volunteer basis.
My political campaign experience has provided another perspective on digital communications. While volunteering with the Francesca Hong campaign, I worked on social-media strategy and day-to-day content while also contributing photography, graphic design, event coverage, and canvassing. This required adapting messaging quickly, producing content around a constantly changing campaign schedule, and maintaining a consistent digital presence across multiple platforms.
Across all of these roles, I approach social media as more than a publishing platform. I use it as a tool for storytelling, public information, audience development, marketing, community engagement, and relationship building. Whether promoting a television program, communicating an emergency to residents, selling tickets to a community theater production, highlighting Japanese-American culture, supporting a local business, or helping a political campaign communicate with voters, I combine strategy with hands-on creative production to reach the intended audience effectively.
